                Senior Pastor

Pastor Pam Gutermuth first felt her call to ministry while an undergrad at Elon University, where she graduated with a BA in Religious Studies and Political Science from Elon University in 2015. During her time at Elon she was heavily involved in the Pan-Methodist student organization on campus as well as a local UM congregation. From Elon she made her way to Georgia to attend Candler School of Theology at Emory University in pursuit of her M.Div. While at Candler she served as a Chaplain Intern at Gwinnett Medical Center during her first year, as a Student Intern at Briarcliff United Methodist in Atlanta during her second year, and as the pastor at Ebenezer United Methodist in Forsyth through Candler’s Teaching Parish program during her third year. After graduating, she moved up here to the Rome area to serve as the pastor of the Mizpah-Barnsley circuit. Now she is excited to begin a new journey with Chapel Hill, and to get to stay in Rome! She can’t wait to see what God has in store for her and Chapel Hill.

Pam grew up in sunny South Florida near Fort Lauderdale and is happy to now be living here in North Georgia where she gets to experience all four seasons! She lives in the parsonage at Mizpah with her feline roommates. These purrbabies enjoy helping her with her knitting and crochet projects, there is always a new knit or crochet project going on in the parsonage. When with family and friends, she enjoys playing boardgames, though you may not have heard of many of the board games she enjoys, most people haven’t!

                Rita Jones

What can we say about Rita?  Like any great church, Chapel Hill is comprised of great volunteers.  Rita epitomizes the wonderful volunteer/servant spirit that makes Chapel Hill GREAT!  She is our volunteer Administrative Assistant and is the "central nervous system" of Chapel Hill.  Rita retired from a career in Social Services and has a heart as big as Rome itself.

                Pianist

Cindy Story has served as a church pianist since she was 15 years old. After graduating from Berry College and Georgia State University, she continued to serve in church ministry as pianist, children’s and youth choir coordinator, and many other leadership roles while teaching in her private piano studio. While Cindy was serving a local church in late 1991, Founding Pastor Mark Trull invited her to audition for the pianist position for Rome’s New Methodist Church, which later became Chapel Hill UMC.

                Steve Story:

                story7475@gmail.com

                Music Director

When Pastor Trull also discovered that her husband Steve Story (graduate of Berry College, West Georgia, and Lincoln Memorial University) was serving as a music minister, he invited them to audition as a team after attending a children’s choir program they were leading. They applied together and 26 years later continue to call Chapel Hill home. Serving the Lord through music at Chapel Hill continues to be a blessing in their lives. Steve and Cindy have 2 grown children and a daughter-in-law who all live in Texas.
